School camp is a great way for kids to take a break from school and learn to discover new places, new skills/experiences, to take a break from social media/internet/games, and whanaungatanga(building positive relationships).
Learning new places is probably one of the best ways to enjoy a school camp, and a great way to learn about history about the city and people that used to live there. It is also a great way to be away with your familys and learn to be responsible for yourself and live a life of your own, it also gives you an opportunity to go on a holiday. It is a cheap vacation as it was only partially funded by parents ($70) and the rest was subsidised by the school.
For the skills/experience that you can learn from camp was, the difference between cow poo and sheep poo, new food to try, kayaking, paddle boarding, rock climbing, night walk, (for the first time people saw glow worms during that night walk)orienteering, roasting marshmallows, fia fia night(performance), ping pong table, bunk beds/cabin, lookout/beach walk, pool, and for the last one a hugeeee flying fox. For the skills/experience that I learnt from my view was going kayaking for an estimation length of about 6 km and took about 25 minutes, and the next one was having a try paddle boarding which was pretty scary because there were some jelly fishes in the water but luckily I survived, for another experience I had to walk up a mountain that took about half an hour to get down and up which was pretty… tiring, but I did it. It was so calming on the beach the sand was so soft and wind was soaring through sky
School camp is also great for kids to get a break from games, social media, instead we can just talk face to face because gaming (being on a device all day) can hurt your brain and get you sick so it's very important to take a break from interacting with devices.
Whanaungatanga is the most important part of them all, building relationships. Building relationships is very important in camp because showing respect to the instructors is a really grateful thing because they cook you food, set up everything for you, and also for friendships, if you respect your friend they will respect you back.
And hear some examples how you can show whanaungatanga to others, introduce yourself, including people in games, hold doors for people, be a role model, be respectful, encourage others, help parents.
I think camp was the best thing that happened to me this year. It was pretty fun to get to know more people, get to know them well, and play with them all the time. And i also like their number one rule which was having fun. But the thing I liked about camp was kayaking, pool, gym, cabin, the activity, and some other fun things.
